I have a student with Down's Syndrome that would benefit greatly from an ipad for communication through memos for immediate conversations, e-mails and Internet exploration.
This (from the website) intrigues me as well . . . "iBooks Author lets you create books that people with disabilities can read and experience. The table of contents, glossary, widgets, main text, and more are built to automatically take advantage of VoiceOver technology. Add accessibility descriptions to any widget or media — including movies and quizzes — so even those with vision impairments can use them." Lots of possibilities, connections with the notion of flipped classrooms, customized learning, etc.
I think it might be cool for students to have choice- i-book or text. I love the "active reading" options such as note taking, high lighting, and interacting with diagrams.
